Evergreen's nationally-recognized Breastfeeding Center offers an innovative program of education, support and professional care to help you and your baby have an enjoyable breastfeeding experience. Our program earned Evergreen designation as the first Baby Friendly Hospital in the United States from UNICEF and the World Health Organization.
Our labor nurses will help you and your baby get started with breastfeeding within an hour of birth, when babies are ready to feed. During your hospital stay, our board certified lactation consultants are available for individual consultation to assess your baby's feeding style and help you solve breastfeeding difficulties.
If you need additional help once you’re home, you can make an appointment at the Breastfeeding Center. Physicians, nurses or midwives may refer to the Breastfeeding Center, or families may contact us directly. Services are available to all breastfeeding mothers, whether they gave birth at Evergreen or elsewhere. Payment for inpatient and follow-up visits to the Breastfeeding Center may be covered by insurance.
Families who have given birth at the Family Maternity Center can access our lactation specialists by phone 24/7. There is no fee for telephone consultations.
