Classes for after your baby is born
These classes are designed to help you navigate parenthood, enhance your family-focused skills, and build a strong bond with your baby. All classes are taught by Certified Childbirth Educators unless otherwise noted.
Parent-Baby Classes: Each 2-hour session meets once weekly according to the age of your baby. Parents attend with baby to learn about feeding and sleeping, infant development and the joys and challenges of parenting. Explore changes to be expected in your relationships and lifestyle. Meet other new families and make connections for play groups and support. The Snugglers series (newborn-3 months of age) is free –Evergreen's gift to new families. Subsequent series cost $77 each.

This is Not What I Expected: Emotional care for new mothers and families experiencing postpartum distress such as deep sadness, frequent crying, worrisome thoughts, feeling out of control or hopeless. For more information, call the Evergreen Postpartum Care Center, 425.899.3602.

New! Bringing Baby Home: Avoiding "maritial meltdown" after the baby comes. This class is designed especially for couples and co-parents. Expectant and new parents learn how to cope with the stressors of becoming a family, better understand early childhood development, and co-parent effectively while avoiding all too common 'marital meltdown'. A research-based and tested program of the Gottman Institute. Taught by Gottman certified BBH Instructors, Victoria Carlson and Wendy Dean. Quiet babes-in-arms welcome. Fee: $125 couple - Fee includes Gottman-certified take-home materials

New! The Pelvic Health Class: Learn techniques to minimize pain during your pregnancy, the birth process and how to optimize healing afterward. Learn ways to avoid problems involving the pelvic floor muscles due to pregnancy, childbirth and even caring for your little ones. Taught by a Women's Health Physical Therapist and Nurse Practitioner of the Center for Continence and Pelvic Health at Evergreen.

Starting Solid Foods: Recommended for parents of babies 4-12 months old. Learn practical and research-based information on healthy feeding of solid foods. Quiet, arm-held babies welcome.

Breastfeeding Your Older Baby and Child: education and support for moms continuing to breastfeed beyond the first six months. Babies welcome.

The Happiest Baby on the Block: learn this step-by-step approach to soothing even the fussiest baby in minutes, based on the highly effective approach pioneered by Dr. Harvey Karp. Open to expectant parents, new parents, or anyone working with young babies. Taught by Certified Happiest Baby on the Block Instructors, Debra Shelden and Jennifer McArthur. Babes-in-arms welcome.

Parenting with Love and Logic Series: Eight hours of instruction is offered in a 4-part Series or One-day Intensive. Learn how to interact calmly and effectively with your children ages toddler through adolescence. Learn appropriate ways to set limits and resolve problem behavior. Eight hours of instruction. Taught by Amy F. Wilson, Certified Love & Logic Instructor.

Parenting with Love and Logic 2-hour Seminar:Tips and Tools: This two-hour seminar is a sampler of the full Parenting with Love and Logic Program. For those who want to learn about the series or as a refresher for those who have already learned Love and Logic techniques. Taught by Amy F. Wilson, Certified Love & Logic Instructor.

Exploring Child Care Options: Learn how to choose the type of child care best suited to your family’s needs and budget in this in-depth overview of child care services. Explore in-home daycare, commercial care, nanny and au pair services plus the ins and outs of using college students and relatives as childcare providers. Taught by Laura Thompson, Family Consultant, Seattle, Wa.
