Register for classes early in your pregnancy, as classes fill quickly. These seminars provide additional topics and may be attended anytime during your pregnancy. Classes are taught by Certified Childbirth Educators except where otherwise noted.
New! The Pelvic Health Class: Learn and practice techniques to minimize pain during your pregnancy, the birth process and ways to optimize healing afterward. Learn how to avoid problems involving the pelvic floor muscles due to pregnancy, childbirth, and even caring for your little ones. Taught by a Women's Health Physical Therapist and Nurse Practitioner of the Center for Continence and Pelvic Health at Evergreen.

New! A Day About Baby: Learn how to diaper, bathe and soothe your baby plus baby carriers and more. Hands-on learning, breakout topics and baby products add to the enjoyment of this unique class. Does not include information about breastfeeding, infant feeding or breast pumps. See Infant Feeding and Pumping class below.

Duration: One Saturday, 10am-3pm
Infant Feeding and Pumping: learn about newborn feeding with the primary focus on breastfeeding as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Includes the feeding phases during baby's first year of life. Learn the basics of breast pumps and breastmilk storage.

New! Bringing Baby Home: Avoiding 'marital meltdown' after the baby comes. This class is designed especially for couples and co-parents. Expectant and new parents learn how to cope with the stressors of becoming a family, better understand early childhood development and how to co-parent effectively while avoiding all too common "marital meltdown". A research-based and tested program of the Gottman Institute. Taught by Gottman-certified BBH Instructors, Victoria Carlson and Wendy Dean. Quiet, arm-held babies welcome.

Duration: two Saturdays, 9am-4pm
Practice Only - Labor Coping Skills: Learn or review the basics of patterned breathing, relaxation and comfort techniques for labor and birth. Teaches or reviews the labor coping skills taught in Labor & Birth classes.

The Happiest Baby on the Block: learn this step-by-step approach to soothing even the fussiest baby in minutes based on the highly effective approach pioneered by Dr. Harvey Karp. Open to expectant parents, new parents, or anyone working with young babies. Taught by Certified Happiest Baby on the Block Instructors, Debra Shelden and Jennifer McArthur. Babes-in-arms welcome.
Fee: $60/each or couple - fee includes a CD, Soothing Sounds, and your choice of DVD or VHS
Duration: two hours
Exploring Your Child Care Options: Learn how to choose the type of child care best suited to your family's needs and budget with this in-depth overview of child care services. Explore in-home daycare, commercial care, nanny and au pair services plus the ins and outs of using college students and relatives as childcare providers. Taught by Laura Thompson, Family Consultant, Seattle, Wa.
Fee: $35/ each or couple

Yoga During Pregnancy: Strengthen childbearing muscles, increase flexibility, and learn deep relaxation for comfort in pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. Instruction accomodates different fitness levels and the changing body. Taught by Certified Yoga Instructors.
Fee: $90 per person
Duration: Six-week series, ongoing sessions
Classes for the entire family:
Dads Only: Expectant dads and new dads meet to discuss fatherhood, labor and birth, experiences and expectations. Taught by a trained educator facilitator (and dad!).

Grandparents: Tour Evergreen's Family Maternity Center and learn about current infant care recommendations and childbirth practices.
Fee: $25 each or couple
Duration: two hours
Siblings: Children 2 years to 6 years of age who are expecting a new sibling learn about coming to the hospital and life with baby at home. Children make a 'gift' for the new baby and participate in a brief tour of the Family Maternity Center. Parents attend with children.
Fee: $25 per family.

Car Safe Kids Class: Learn the basics of selecting and using a car seat specific to your needs. May be attended during pregnancy or whenever you are choosing a new car seat. Taught by Denise Donaldson, CCPST.
Fee: Free
Duration: two hours
Car Seat Inspections: Federal studies estimate that 85% of car seat installations are not impact-safe. Have your child's care seat checked for proper installation by a certified safety technician (CCPST). For a complete or 'full' seat check, have baby and car seat on board. Without baby, a doll is used with your car seat.

Tour - Family Maternity Center (FMC): Tour our award-winning Evergreen Family Maternity Center.

Tour - FMC Spanish-speaking: Offered once monthly, includes additional time for a question and answer session. Taught by Sandra Baker, Spanish-speaking Interpreter and Family Maternity Center Instructor.
