The Ethics Committee is a diverse group of health care professionals and lay people who identify, analyze and facilitate discussion surrounding ethical questions. Recommendations are made involving patient care decisions.
The Committee recognizes the right and obligation of patients and families to be involved in decisions affecting their health and treatment. It can provide advice and support in unusual, complex or emergency patient care situations when decisions become difficult due to differing personal values.
The Ethics Committee is a free service available to all patients, family members, friends and health care providers who find themselves with concerns or in conflict around values related to:
- End of life issues
- Quality of life issues
- Patient rights
- Patient preferences
- Refusal of care or treatment
- Cultural or religious differences
Any member of the committee may be reached by phone. A list of committee members and their phone numbers is available from Evergreen’s Administration office (Green 1-203), the Evergreen switchboard (425.899.1000) or by contacting Ethics Committee co-chair Dave Wendleton at 425.899.1046.
