Stop Smoking
If you smoke, quitting is absolutely the best thing you can do for your health. Smoking is linked to at least 10 different types of cancer, is a major cause of heart disease, aneurysms, bronchitis, emphysema and stroke, and contributes to the severity of pneumonia and asthma. Your smoke also has a harmful health effect on those around it. And if that’s not enough – your children are more likely to become smokers if you smoke.
It’s hard to quit, but it's not impossible. More than 1,000 Americans stop smoking for good every day. First of all, keep trying! It often takes six or seven tries before you quit for good. There are many stop-smoking programs available, including nicotine replacement (such as gums or patches), aversion therapies and herbal remedies.
At Evergreen, we believe behavioral-change programs have the best chance at long-term success. We offer a free introductory meeting for the Smokenders program. To reserve your place, call the Evergreen Healthline at 425.899.3000 or register online at www.evergreenhealthcare.org.
