As of Nov. 2, Evergreen Hospital is screening patients and visitors for H1N1 (swine) flu symptoms. |
We’re doing this to protect our patients, our staff and our community, and keep them healthy during this flu pandemic.
Patients and visitors will be screened as they access patient care areas of the hospital. If visitors have symptoms of H1N1, they will be asked not to enter. Patients seeking treatment will be sent to the appropriate area to receive care.
We encourage you to leave children under the age of 12 at home. They are particularly vulnerable to this strain of flu and should not be exposed unnecessarily.
Please allow extra time before your appointment so that you can be screened.
Here are the symptoms of H1N1 that we’ll be looking for:
- Do you have a fever (temperature greater than 100.4º F or 37.8º C)?
- Do you have either a runny nose or nasal congestion, sore throat or a cough?
If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, and you are a patient, you will be asked to put on a surgical mask as you enter the hospital. Masks are available at all entrances.
These measures will be discontinued as soon as it is safe to do so.
For flu information:
- Call Evergreen’s H1N1 line at 425.899.H1N1 (425.899.4161) for basic flu information
- Nurses are available for telephone consultation at Evergreen’s Healthline at 425.899.3000
- If you’re experiencing flu symptoms, consult your primary care provider.
The best protection against the H1N1 flu virus includes washing your hands frequently, avoiding crowds and particularly anyone coughing or sneezing, and getting vaccinated against the seasonal flu and the H1N1 strain when the vaccine is available.
We appreciate your help, patience and understanding during this difficult time.
