The Pediatric Department provides health services for a wide range of medical conditions from minor fractures to major surgery.
UNIT FOCUS
Medical care for children ages newborn through adolescence.
PATIENT CARE DELIVERY MODEL
Single-room, family-centered care tailored to the unique physical and emotional needs of children and families. Features private suites with accommodations for parents. A pediatric procedure room and pediatric recreation room are located nearby.
TEAM MEMBERS
Pediatric hospitalists – specialized physicians from Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center –oversee care of pediatric patients, working closely and collaboratively with the child’s physician(s).
SCHEDULING PRACTICES
Staff scheduling provides around-the-clock patient care, seven days a week.
STAFF ORIENTATION
New hires attend unit orientation.
EDUCATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Successful completion of regularly scheduled skills labs is required. New hire training determined per clinical nurse manager and assistant clinical nurse manager of Children’s Services.
