KIRKLAND, WA – Meda Dugan of Kirkland recently received the annual Health Unit Coordinator Excellence Award at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center for her outstanding work in the cardiac care and progressive care unit.
Health unit coordinators are often described as the glue that holds the individual patient care departments together. The coordinators are the key staff person who knows where everything and everyone is, answers all questions while juggling telephone calls. Evergreen Healthcare honors the coordinators annually during National Health Unit Coordinator Week.
Dugan handles these many tasks with a calm and nurturing attitude. She gladly helps new staff members and demonstrates care and compassion to patients and families. She is a balloon artist and frequently shares her talents with staff and children, brightening a somber moment with an appropriate balloon creation.
Dugan served in the U.S. Army and is a graduate of Green River Community College. She has been at Evergreen nine years.
Evergreen Hospital Medical Center has 244 beds and is the heart of Evergreen Healthcare that includes medical groups, home care, hospice and many other services and community health outreach programs.
