Representations of the natural world in acrylics and oil paints make up the latest installment of work to grace the walls of Evergreen Medical Center’s Visiting Artists Galleries.
Just out side of the Emergency Department is the work of Bellevue artist Fred Lisaius. His paintings feature birds, insets and flowers. These are all original acrylic paintings on canvas and board.
“In my paintings, birds, insects and flowers are often altered or imagined species,” Lisaius said. “I like the way it creates a sense of discovery, as if you are seeing something new for the first time and I like the way it questions our relationship to the natural world.”
The artist in the Silver Zone Gallery is David Marty of Edmonds, who was named an artist to watch in a recent issue of Southwest Air magazine. His oil on canvas paintings of rural scenes are done in a representational/impressionistic style.
“I am often awestruck by the beauty, complexity and diversity that surround me,” Marty said. “This inspires me to attempt to capture the essence of a particular setting or a moment in time, and share that with others through my paintings.”
The artwork is on display in public areas of the hospital and community members are welcome to view the art at no cost. The current artist works will be on display through April. The Visiting Artist Galleries are part of an effort by Evergreen to create a peaceful and healing environment in support of the medical treatment patients receive.
