Steve Brown has been Evergreen’s Chief Executive Officer since January 2002, and is responsible for oversight and direction of all aspects of Evergreen’s operations.
Under Brown’s leadership, Evergreen has continued to expand its programs and services to meet the needs of the community. Brown was instrumental in the creation of a collaboration with neighboring Overlake Hospital Medical Center to provide certain key services, such as the Sound Heart cardiac program, to the Eastside. A $120 million expansion of Evergreen Hospital, including a new Emergency Department and an eight-story patient facility, will open in the spring of 2007.
In addition to his duties and responsibilities with Evergreen Healthcare, Brown is also very active in the community. He currently serves as President of the Kirkland Rotary Club, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Eastside Business Roundtable and the Kirkland Business Roundtable. He also serves on the Board of Directors of several business and community organizations, including the Kirkland Performance Center, Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Eastside and Cascadia Community College Foundation.
Brown came to Evergreen from the Inova Health System in Fairfax, Virginia, where he served as a system Vice President. In that capacity, Brown was the Chief Executive Officer of a 656-bed campus which included Inova Fairfax Hospital and the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. Under his leadership, Inova Fairfax Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, received numerous recognitions for excellence, including being named one of the Top 100 Hospitals several years running, recognized for clinical excellence by U.S. News and World Report, noted as the top hospital in northern Virginia for treatment of major injuries by Consumer Checkbook Magazine and received the Consumer Choice Award for the Washington, D.C. area from the National Research Corporation.
Brown graduated from Thiel College (Greenville, PA) with a BA, and from The Pennsylvania State University with a Master of Public Administration in Health Care Services. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Brown has two sons, who live in Kirkland and West Chester, Pennsylvania. He and his wife reside in Woodinville.
