The Bariatric Center for Weight-Loss Surgery offers two surgical options, the Gastric Bypass and the Adjustable Lap Band. Gastric Bypass surgically alters the stomach with a series of incisions to both limit the amount of food you can ingest and decrease caloric absorption. The Adjustable Lap Band option is one of the latest additions to the list of surgical options, which is the adjustable and reversible method.
The Center is also among the first in the country to perform both procedures using laparoscopic technology. This minimally invasive technique considerably reduces the length of the hospital stay, diminishes discomfort, limits surgery scarring and shortens recovery time.
It takes a skilled surgeon to perform laparoscopic surgery. Our surgeons have obtained the necessary training and experience to develop the advanced laparoscopic skills they need to perform surgeries in this manner. Additionally, our surgical teams are experienced with the equipment, instruments and techniques of laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
Both gastric bypass and adjustable gastric band surgeries are performed while the patient is under general anesthetic. Our Board Certified anesthesiologists and our Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are trained and experienced in the care of severely obese patients.
