Geriatric Regional Assessment Team provides different crisis and non-crisis interventions:

Geriatric Crisis Service is a specialized crisis intervention and stabilization service available to older adults in King County. This service is provided by the Geriatric Regional Assessment Team, which consists of geriatric mental health specialists, social workers, an on-call occupational therapist and a psychiatrist. The team works collaboratively to provide in-home medical, psychosocial and functional assessments for people age 60 and older who meet the criteria for eligibility.
There is no fee for these crisis services. The Geriatric Regional Assessment Team will see individuals within 3 business days of referral.
Crisis Services:
- Comprehensive psychiatric, medical, social and functional assessments
- Crisis intervention and stabilization
- Prompt referral and linkage to mental health, aging and health care providers
- Consultation, care planning and education for professional, families and other care providers
Eligibility:
- 60 years of age or older
- Residing in King County
- In crisis
- Probability of a mental disorder
In addition, one or more of the following criteria must be met:
- Physically and/or medically compromised; physically disabled
- Lacking family/friends able and willing to provide the support necessary to ensure health and safety.
- Refusing necessary health, mental health and/or social services
- At risk of involuntary psychiatric hospitalization
- In need of an assessment for differential diagnosis
Exclusions:
- Must live in King County (Snohomish County residents may contact Snohomish County Human Services at 425.388.7215 or visit the Snohomish County website)
- Alcohol or substance abuse as the primary problem (consider GRAT's substance abuse program).
- Exploitation, neglect and/or abuse is primary problem (call Adult Protective Services at 206.341.7660)
- Crisis is life threatening or if there is an imminent danger of harming self or others (call Crisis Clinic at 206.461.3222 or 911)

Family Caregiver Counseling Service is a specialized outreach therapy service available to unpaid primary caregivers in King County. The service is provided by Evergreen Hospital's Geriatric Regional Assessment Team. The team works collaboratively to provide in-home brief counseling for caregivers who meet the criteria for eligibility.
There is no cost for these services.
Services Provided:
- In-home individual counseling consisting of 1 to 5 sessions
- Referral to community services, including support groups and respite care
- Education and support on specific emotional issues experienced by the caregiver
- Focus on problem solving, self-care, stress management and positive change
Eligibility:
- Adults who are the unpaid, primary caregiver of an individual 60 years of age or older
- Adults age 60 or older who are the unpaid, primary caregiver of an individual (under the age of 19 or over the age of 60) who has mental retardation and related developmental disabilities
- Resides in King County
- In need of individual counseling secondary to their caregiver role and unable/unwilling to go to a community counselor
Exclusions:
- Care receiver resides in a nursing home
- Resides outside of King County

Substance Abuse Assessment is a specialized outreach service available to older adults and disabled adults in King County.
Eligibility:
Individuals referred must meet the following criteria:
- 60 years of age or older or Title XIX core eligible
- King County resident
- Identified or suspected substance abuse problem (alcohol, illicit drugs, misuse of prescription drugs) co-occurring with a mental health problem
- Not residing in a nursing facility
Services Provided:
- In-home assessment
- One to five sessions, depending on need and willingness to accept services
- Education on substance abuse and community resources
- Referral to community services and programs
- Focus on assessment, education and referral
There is no charge for the service

Geriatric Consultation Services is a specialized assessment and consultation service available to older adults, their families, and professionals in King County.
Services Provided:
- Comprehensive assessments specializing in dementias, chronic mental illnesses, hoarding, behavioral problems and unresolved grief.
- Recommendations for care planning
- Referral and linkage to mental health, aging and health care providers
- Activation of Durable Power of Attorneys and Representative Payees
- Evaluations for Trust Funds
- Consultations for professionals, families and other care providers in their own environment
- Written report
