Evergreen Hospital Invites Community to be Prepared During Emergency Readiness Fair
KIRKLAND, Wa. – When a disaster hits, you need to be prepared to survive on your own for several days, prepare yourself and protect your family by attending the Evergreen Healthcare Emergency Readiness Fair.
This free community event will take place at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives from cities including Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville and Duvall, as well as local utility companies, search and rescue groups, and the Red Cross will be on hand with information about what you can expect in the wake of a disaster, and what you need to provide yourself, your family, and your pets. Six educational seminars will be offered through out the day. The schedule is as follows:
10:30 a.m. Preparing & caring for people with special needs
11:30 a.m. Kids on their own during disaster
12:30 p.m. Snohomish County Search & Rescue: Earthquake preparedness
1:30 p.m. Home preparedness
2:30 p.m. Disaster management for small business
3:30 p.m. Preparing for winter weather
In addition to information, ready made disaster kits will be available at significantly discounted prices. The survival bags normally retail for over $100. At the event kits for a family of four will be sold at cost for $65, while bags for two people will cost $50. Attendees will also be able to beat the flu by getting a flu shot for $25.
