Children are special to their parents, and they are special to our pediatric staff. Trained in the fields of intensive care, orthopedics, obstetrics, medical-surgical and ambulatory care, our nurses regularly attend continuing education classes to build upon their pediatric nursing skills. Our staff cares for patients using a team approach involving registered nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, chaplains, dieticians and pharmacists. We strive to meet both our patients' medical and psychosocial needs.
Pediatric Hospitalists
Evergreen’s pediatric hospitalists are physicians that specialize in the care and management of hospital patients, from admission to discharge. They handle patients who don’t have their own doctor, as well as patients whose physicians have put them in the care of the hospitalists during their hospital stay. Since they are on-site all day, the hospitalists are on hand to immediately order tests, interpret the results and order any additional treatments. They keep in close contact with each patient’s primary care physician, providing a complete record of the patient’s hospital care and suggestions for follow-up care after discharge.
The pediatric hospitalists are all on staff at Seattle Children’s, and provide care at Evergreen as part of a collaboration with Children’s. They all completed their three-year pediatric residencies at nationally-known children’s hospitals. Parents appreciate that their kids can get care from Children’s pediatric specialists at Evergreen, which is more convenient to home.
