The Evergreen Breast Center is an FDA-certified facility, featuring all digital mammograms which are read by specially trained breast radiologists.
Screening mammograms are also double-checked by the R2 ImageChecker, which can look for subtle mammographic findings and increases the detection rate for breast cancer by 10-15%.
The Evergreen Breast Center provides three kinds of mammograms:
Screening Mammogram
An annual mammogram for patients with no breast symptoms or complaints.
Comprehensive Screening Mammogram
These mammograms are performed on patients with prior history of breast cancer (more than 3 years), strong family history, high risk or who travel a long distance for their exam.
Diagnostic Mammogram
This type of mammogram is done when there are suspicious findings on a routine screening mammogram, or when a patient has a breast complaint (lump, thickening, nipple discharge, swelling, etc.)
Preparing for a Mammogram
- Try to schedule it during the week after your period if your breasts are tender before your period.
- Wear clothing easily removed from the waist up.
- Do not use deodorant, powder or lotion under your arms or on your breasts.
- Provide the Breast Center with the location of all previous mammograms to assure comparison at the time of your exam.
